You never know when your dental hygienist from Topanga Canyon could be putting out the most recently anticipated albums on Asthmatic Kitty Records. Yes, that’s Sufjan Steven’s label, and no, we’re not talking about a new and upcoming young artist – not technically anyway. Linda Perhacs, who released her album “Parallelograms” back in 1970, has been cutting a new record and it’s all thanks to her fans who have rediscovered that debut during the last few years. These fans include Devendra Banhart, Daft Punk, Ramona Gonzalez (Nite Jewel), Julia Holter and more. The story is not too different from Vashti Bunyan’s resurgence in the psych-folk scene; there’s a pure honesty in those delicate vocals still seem to make an impact today whether it’s embedded in new songs like “Prisms of Glass” or older tunes like “If You Were My Man.” Perhacs’ new album “The Soul of All Natural” things is out now and includes contributions from Gonzalez, Holter and Fernando Perdomo.
