Stream: The Pocket Rockets, ‘MDNGHT’

East Los Angeles trio the Pocket Rockets return with another single “MDNGHT” to celebrate the release of their sophomore and self-titled EP, and the new track is even splashier than the last. Its guitar riffs are delightfully dizzying, the bass lines are shamelessly flirty and the drums hold it down while vocalist Ralph Blanco sings one-syllable words as five-syllable words. It’s also got a familiar pop punch thanks to Jon Siebels (of Eve 6, Monsters Are Waiting and most recently Flybys) taking a hand in production. If there’s a song you’ve got to add to your summer party playlist, it’s this one. The cheerful disposition juxtaposed with its laid-back chorus (“What have we got to lose now baby?”) is perfect for shooting the crap with pals on a sunny day. We’ll even forgive them for giving in to the no-vowel trend here. “The Pocket Rockets” is out now DRrecord and Sick City Records.
