News of Erik Hassle first landed in the the U.S. when his hit single “Hurtful” found its way across the pond from Sweden. The 2009 hit from his debut “Hassle” was even re-released on his sophomore album “Pieces,” but it’s been a while since we’ve heard from the soul-pop singer. It may be because he’s been writing tunes for other other pop stars, including Shakira and Rihanna, but no matter. Fans who are eager for a follow-up to 2012’s “We Dance,” have been given a nice tease with Hassle’s “Somebody’s Party” EP, featuring slick songs like the funky “Pathetic” and the horn-heavy ballad title track. The EP also includes collaborations with Chicago hip-hop artist Vic Mensa on slow-burning anthem “Talk About It” and singer-actress Tinashe on the R&B pop tune “Innocence Lost.” Hassle heads out on tour with Danish pop singer MØ, but he’ll return to Los Angeles, where is currently based to finish penning his fourth studio album, for the final date. “Somebody’s Party” is out now via RCA.
