With each song to emerge from Kan Wakan’s debut album “Moving On” – whose release is now only one week away – we’re beginning to think that none of 2014’s albums-of-the-year lists will be complete without it. The L.A.-based septet – the brainchild of composer/multi-instrumentalist Gueorgui Linev, guitarist-producer Peter Potyondy and singer Kristianne Bautista [pictured] – arrived in 2012 with the cinematic “Forever Found,” and last year’s EP also included the two-part, 11-minute-plus orchestral spectacle “Midnight Moon” and the album’s sultry title track. HBO glommed onto “Like I Need You” for the network’s promotional videos, and now comes “Mont Blanc,” named ostensibly for the highest peak in the Alps. Like much of Kan Wakan’s debut [streaming in full here], the horn-adorned song possesses an epic sweep. Enjoy the view.
