Los Angeles native Mikey Omega has been rapping since middle school and developing his sound over the last few years, which he describes as “alternative trap.” The fruit of that labor will soon be released as the forthcoming mixtape “Wasted Potential,” and the first single to surface is “Snow Bunnies.” Built over a steady melody, the Ghoƨta-crafted production swells with synth choruses, and percussion that fluctuates between automatic, semi-automatic and barely-there silencer, while Omega delivers lines like, “She listen to Coldplay and Foster the People / I listen to music church goers deem evil.” In the accompanying music video, which plays like a fever dream, he brings to life his lyric, “Smoking with snow bunnies in the suburbs,” by kicking it with a giant white bunny and exhaling plume after plume of weed smoke.
