When Foster the People first came back onto the scene to promote their sophomore effort “Supermodel,” many were curious to see if the new record would bring as much heat to match the success of their debut album (which got a kickstart with their popular “Torches” EP). Their set at Coachella proved the band still has the chops to write sticky electro-pop tunes but that they’ve also ventured out into a bit of pysch-pop rock. Their latest single “Best Friend” is no “Pumped Up Kicks,” but it stays aligned with previously playful singles such as “Houdini.” The accompanying video, however, Â provides some commentary on how the fashion industry pressures women to feel what the “perfect body” is. The Brewer-directed clip is haute couture meets “Alien.” From horrific magical jaws to throwing up stilettos, the models themselves help depict a light take on an everyday issue. It’s certainly a memorable slew of images to help trigger album sales.
