When we last caught up with dream-pop singer-songwriter Devon Williams, he had just released his splendid sophomore album “Euphoria.” Two years later he has a third studio album titled “Gilding the Lily” under his belt. The writing process for this record had already begun when the former was released, so naturally, songs like the romantic “Will You Let Go of My Heart?” expands on Williams’ pop sensibilities that shimmer and soar with even more lush layers of orchestrated soft-rock and melodic jangling guitars. Swelling choruses in other songs such as “Flowers” are embellished with rolling drums for texture and tunes like “Games” are graceful and sophisticated with Williams’ vocals once again yearning yet hopeful. “Gilding the Lily” is out now via Slumberland.
