With its relentless cool, Stax horns and boy/girl charisma, Caught a Ghost breathed some new life into old soul when its debut full-length “Human Nature” was released in April. Besides being good for a steamy night in the club, Caught a Ghost’s songs have found their way into numerous TV shows and movies. And speaking of “Relentless,” that’s the title of the new horn-propelled single the band will release next week. Frontman Jesse Nolan tells Kick Kick Snare it’s about “being frustrated with someone who can’t seem to get it together” – and to the band it’s become an inside joke, “about why people don’t dance at shows,” he says. Yes, unless there are loud synthesizers involved, it’s hard to get people to dance in L.A. It’s easier to get people to see movies, which why the forthcoming film “Dear White People” is worth a mention. The Sundance Jury Prize-winning film co-stars Caught a Ghost singer Tessa Thompson, and, yes, that’s the band’s early single “Sleeping at Night” in the trailer. Sound the horns.
