[We’re always looking for sound advice here at Buzz Bands LA, and today we launch a new series, “Artist Playlist,” in which some of the folks we’ve featured here tell US what they’ve been putting in their earholes.]

Wildcat! Wildcat!

Leave it to a band with two Jesses and slew of pretty keyboard melodies to turn into wiseguys when we asked them to share an Artist Playlist. “In honor of Buzz Bands and Bronson, here are 10 songs from L.A. bands that start with a ‘B,'” says Jesse Carmichael of Wildcat! Wildcat!

We Blush.

Wildcat! Wildcat! – Carmichael along with Jesse Taylor and Michael Wilson – in August released their full-length debut “No Moon at All,” featuring their soaring, intricately layered electro-pop songs. Early this year, the band previewed “No Moon at All” to a huge crowd in Echo Park, and their tour van brings them back home on Tuesday for a date at the El Rey Theatre, co-presented by Buzz Bands LA and Alt 98.7. Tickets are available here.

Below is Wildcat! Wildcat!’s “B” list, which sounds top-drawer to us:

Here’s the rundown, with the band’s comments:

Babes, “Isn’t It Love” – “First heard this at our good friend’s wedding as his first dance … chilled out spacey goodness.”

Banks, “Warm Water” – “Such an amazing voice … fragile and beautiful … great melodies in this tune. Big fan of the Snakehips remix as well.”

Banta, “Far Field” – “Hard to just pick one off their EP, but this song has always stuck out with a little extra swagger.”

BORNS, “10,000 Emerald Pools” – “Had the pleasure of playing with this lot in O.C. recently … seriously talented people making some pop gold.”

Bad Suns, “Salt” – “Heard this smooth tune on a compilation a little while back and the groove just nails it. Can’t deny them soaring vocals.”

Beginners, “So Close I Almost Believed It” – “Looked them up after hearing them on [Alt 98.7’s] ‘Close To Home.’ This song is killer … It’s somehow as gritty as it is smooth.”

Bootstraps, “Sleeping Giant” – “Really great record. This song will work it’s way in if you let it. Just the right amazing of nostalgia.”

Buttertones, “Reminiscing” – “Not a huge fan of the new lo-fi/fuzzy/surfy rock that’s happening right now, but this jam just feels right … way more genuine.”

Basa, “Touché” – Longtime buddies of ours that never got their due attention. a modern lounge-y take on the old school bossa nova feel with flawless everything (production, writing, playing, singing). Will always love this jam.”

Bell Gardens, “Take Us Away” – “The right kind of Los Angeles fingerprint on their music. Luscious, sun-soaked, folky, perfection, and their newer song ‘Darker Side of Sunshine’ also rules.”
