Indie-folk quartet Heaps n Heaps emerged late last year with their “Dancing on the Moon” EP, showcasing the sometimes-lilting, sometimes-exuberant boy/girl vocals of Aussie ex-pat Alisa Fedele and American Zach Moon, who had recruited John Pruitt and Ben Spear to round out the four-piece. “Berlin” is the first single from their second EP, “Like No One’s Around,” and it showcases the band’s strengths: the conversation between the two singers, the ebb and flow from shimmering and tender to agitated and pleading. Not the fedora/pantaloons/suspenders Americana of many revivalists who for a time made folk the new pop, Heaps n Heaps do sing from their hearts, which are worn squarely on their sleeves. The new EP is out Nov. 18.
