When Repeater resurfaced in 2013 with their “Golden Ships” EP and then again in October to announce their self-titled album, the band had a new lineup and a new sound. Nonetheless, Steve Krolikowski leads the quintet in the right direction again. “Lonely,” a tune to add to your Britpop playlist of songs that aren’t actually performed by British bands, gets a clever and fun treatment for its accompanying video. “‘Lonely’ is a very literal tribute to the Jonathan Demme video for ‘The Perfect Kiss’ by New Order,” Krolikowski explains. He’s right. The original poster for that video release, which is itself a work of art by Barbara Kruger, is even included in Repeater’s re-creation. It’s a performance within a performance. “Repeater” is out now via A Diamond Heart Production.
