Imagine that, witnessing bloody violence in a Butch Walker video. But that’s the striking piece of cinema for the new Walker single “Bed on Fire,” directed by Magdalena Wosinska and Snake and filmed in the dusty environs of Joshua Tree. The torch song-turned-murder ballad has all the requisite B’s – bikers, babes and Butch’s band, as face-painted party-crashers cause mayhem at the end, a scene that follows Walker’s tasty guitar solo 3 1/2 minutes in. The tune comes from Walker’s forthcoming seventh album, “Afraid of Ghosts” (out Feb. 3 via Dangerbird Records), and the Ryan Adams-produced collection, which features guest turns from Bob Mould and Johnny Depp, is advertising as taking the 45-year-old native Georgian into “grittier territory.” “Bed on Fire,” along with the previously teased “Chrissie Hynde” and the title track, is inspiring fans to follow along.
