Before Omniflux seduced us in 2011, we met Mahsa Zargaran as part of rock outfit Sabrosa Purr and then later on as one of two drummers in Big Black Delta’s woozy space-electronica. The L.A.-based singer-songwriter was was always a fan of Dead Can Dance and Massive Attack, but in her childhood she was weened on classical greats like Chopin and Rachmaninoff. Her latest single “Lawless Flawless” no doubt boasts an amalgamation of those influences. The track, which is a teaser for Omniflux’s forthcoming album, is bewitching with its slinky beats and haunting vocals for today’s trendy gloom. However, its textures and intricacies demonstrate Zargaran’s ability to go beyond the basics of a synth roller-coaster.
