As you might expect, the video for BØRNS first single “10,000 Emerald Pools” involves water, with images of upside-down swimmers cutting languorously through a bluish-green pool, occasionally dissolving to the apparitional visage of Garrett Borns. All of which is a bit showbiz, since the backstory is that the song derives its title from the street address belonging to a relative of producer/co-writer Kennedy. No matter. This was not Buzz Bands LA’s 2014 song of the year for nothing — it’s pop craft at its finest, with the Michigan native’s almost impossible vocals propelling the tune’s confessional spirit and the tasteful production doing nothing to drown it. Eli Born directed the video; the song appears on BØRNS debut EP “Candy.”
