London quartet Wolf Alice may have performed at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds ,as well as won Best Breakthrough Artist at the UK Festival Awards and been deemed by BBC Radio 6 as 2013’s most-blogged-about band, but these folk-grunge-rockers are only just now about to make a bigger splash across the pond. With two EPs under their belt, “Blush” and “Creature Songs,” as well as a supporting spot on Alt-J’s current European tour, Wolf Alice are slyly finishing their first full-length and lunging into a small U.S. tour starting in February. The band have just what it takes to become more than just another cog in the hyperbole machine with their healthy variety of pop-folk, indie-grunge, and thrashing rock. Their music video for “Moaning Lisa Smile†(featuring the male members of the band in drag) starts off with a punch and vocally shifts from pretty to pretty ferocious. The songs ends its fuzzy hooks and heated reverb abruptly but leaves a ringing in the ears reminding us that for nearly three minutes, we liked it loud.
