Ears Wide Open: LANY

Any of LANY’s seven songs sound as if they could soundtrack a John Hughes film, but on their latest “Bad, Bad, Bad” they’ve reached peak catchiness. Painting a picture of a young relationship in its “honeymoon phase,” the single is set to atmospheric â€80s production, with its dreamy vocals making it noir-pop perfection. The electro trio — Paul Klein, Les Priest and Jake Goss — formed in Nashville and derive their name from the abbreviations for Los Angeles and New York, the two cities between which Klein split time (he’s had modeling gigs in NYC). Having garnered hundreds of thousands of plays on Soundcloud (a partnership with the music streaming portal didn’t hurt) while only playing a few shows so far, they continue to get attention in the pop world, and on Hype Machine.
