Video: Tall Tales and the Silver Lining, ‘Something to Believe In’

Tall Tales and the Silver Lining’s new album “Tightropes” is cut from the same 1970s California vibe as some other artists burning the Laurel Canyon flame (say, Dawes), except that the stitching is a little looser. It’s a good fit either way; singer-songwriter Trevor Beld Jimenez, who migrated to L.A. from Ventura some years ago, imbues his folk-pop with a sense of sincerity and hope, which almost qualifies as derring-do in an age when sentimentality is less valued than a tallboy. Tall Tales’ video for “Something to Believe In,” directed by Willard Matthews and Tiffany Elle, is simple and exemplary: cruising L.A., playing gigs, sharing moments with family and friends. It’s enough to give you a peaceful easy feeling.
