Video: Other Lives, ‘Reconfiguration’

2

Other Lives’ “Rituals,” the follow-up to 2011’s “Tamer Animals” (Buzz Bands LA’s album of the year), comes out May 4. The core trio of Jesse Tabish, Josh Onstott and Jonathon Mooney moved to Portland from their native Oklahoma to make it, and in London-based dirctor Ollie Wolf, they found a visual collaborator for the hauntingly beautiful song “Reconfiguration.” Here, a fencing duel symbolizes “the battle between our primal nature as humans and our desire to be civil and harmonious,” Tabish told Noisey, where the video premiered. “We felt like the contrast between the aggression displayed in fencing and elegance in dance was an interesting way to represent the inner conflict the song was written about.” En garde.
