On “Golem,” their second album in seven months, Los Angeles four-piece Wand dive boldly into the 1960s and ’70s, but these aren’t any lightweight musical hallucinogens these guys are doling out. The band — Cory Hanson (guitar, vocals and synths), Lee Landey (bass and synths), Evan Burrows (drums) and Daniel Martens (guitar) — prove as pummeling as they can be pretty on their molten mixes. You might get a desert vibe from “Reaper Invert,” and “Self Hypnosis in 3 Days” seems like a promise the song certainly can keep. “Golem,” the follow-up to last August’s “Ganglion Reef,” came out in March on In the Red Records.
