Ears Wide Open: Moaning

Some tears were shed on the local scene in November when indie-rockers Moses Campbell announced they were through, but that their discursive energy is living on in Moaning. The new trio features Sean Solomon, Pascal Stevenson and Andrew MacKelvie from Moses Campbell, and today, via video, they released their first proper song (which will be available on a split cassette with tourmates Roses). “We’re the same / everything else has changed,” Solomon rages on “We’re the Same,” as we imagine Joy Division as modern-day lo-fi garage-rockers caught between the future and a hard place. He adds, “What’s next? Who knows / We’ll see how it goes.” As for the video, sometimes you have to tear something apart to building something new, right? Anyway, in real estate terms, we see a downward spike in assessed valuation.
