Ears Wide Open: SPURS

SPURS is the latest incarnation of the music of well-traveled singer-songwriter Adam Arcuragi, whose work includes the sterling 2012 release “Like a Fire That Consumes All Before It” and two albums and an EP before that. He’s referred to his music as “death gospel,” and indeed his vivid, often mournful creations hover somewhere between aching soul and pastoral Americana, a la Damian Jurado. Now planted in Echo Park, Arcuragi decamped to Joshua Tree to work on a SPURS full-length. “New Girl” possesses the seducive, reverb-y warm of some of Phosphorescent’s work; no word on when SPURS’ full-length is due, but this leaves us wanting more.

Whoa. good call BBLA, this song is %#&@ing awesome. love his voice and the lyrics.
Great song! I’ve missed Adam since his last record. So glad he’s working on something new. Can’t wait till it’s out and he’s touring. One of the single greatest songwriters of my personal musical life.
