Two takeaways after seeing two of the 16 shows Spanish quartet Hinds performed at South by Southwest in March: 1) These young women could charm the rust off the most corroded of hearts with their lo-fi cherub-pop, and 2) Lo-fi cherub-pop is a hot commodity. Not that it sets the bar very high. You get what you get from the Madrid-based foursome of (Gilda Radner doppleganger) Carlotta Sials, Ana Perrote, Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen — off-kilter call-and-response vocals, beachy guitars, je ne sais quoi smiles. Of course, they are a sensation. They announced this week that their debut album “Leave Me Alone” would be out Jan. 8 via Mom + Pop Records, with a tour EP “The Very Best of Hinds So Far” to precede it, promoting a late-September/October U.S. tour. Depending on your affinity for music that sounds like it could have come from Best Coast’s first band practice, get excited.
