You don’t have to get very far into POWERS’ disco jam “Hot” to believe it when singer Crista Ru proclaims “I’m so hot.” The L.A.-based electro duo of Ru and Mike Del Rio have come out with synths blazing on their first EP, “Legendary,” which was released Friday via Republic Records. The duo, first spotted collaborating on the Knocks’ single “Classic,” have paid some dues in the pop world. Songwriter-producer Del Rio, born Michael Gonzalez, has co-written songs for Christina Aguilera, Selena Gomez, Kylie Minogue, X Ambassadors, R5 and Skylar Grey, among others. In Ru he has a perfect collaborator for the ace production you’d expect from somebody who worked under Alex Da Kid. POWERS sound big already. They’ll be touring with the new Joe Jonas project DNCE [see below].
