Stream: The Singles, ‘Sweet Tooth’

The Singles — the L.A. garage-rock outfit, not the Scarlett Johannson music fling — proved worthy of their name with their 2014 album “Look How Fast a Heart Can Break.” Faster than heartbreak, the bands dispensed 2- to 3-minute power-pop missiles sailing merrily toward rock’s punk and glam past. The trio — singer-guitarist Vince Frederick, drummer-singer Nicky Veltman and bassist Max Goldman — have picked up where they left off with the jaunty new single “Sweet Tooth.” It’s the first single off an album has planned for next year; again, they are working with producer Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Dandy Warhols, Lord Huron). No surprise that the artwork for the single is styled after a small bag of candy — the Singles know how to do bite-sized and crunchy.
