Fool’s Gold might be on recess after the release of their third album “Flying Lessons” earlier this year, but thankfully frontman Luke Top’s deeply resonant croon isn’t playing hooky. Top has unveiled the first song from his solo album “Suspect Highs,” which will be released March 4 on vinyl (Org Music) and digitally (via his own Grand Gallop imprint). Over gentle Afro-beats and a postcard-pretty guitar line, Top proclaims himself “ready” to embrace all things positive. It’s a calming optimism — the result, Top explains, of “breaking away from that mental state where fear and complacency start to feed into each other to create a corrosive worldview.” The song (and its Rob Pera remix) will be out digitally on Friday, with 50% of the proceeds benefiting the French Red Cross. Considering the crises and calamities poisoning worldviews everywhere, “On the Shore” is a welcome hedge against the madness. Breathe deep and enjoy.
