Ears Wide Open: Bestial Mouths

Bestial Mouths’ dirge-y diatribes make a lot of goth-rock sound like easy listening. Fronted by the reliably dire-sounding Lynette Cerezo, the band throws down a blend of caustic synths, furious beats and serpentine melodies, all of which have boosted their profile in the EBM/post-punk orbit. Their new album “Heartless” follows 2013’s self-titled full-length and 2011’s “Hissing Veils.” All have now been released or re-issued by Cleopatra Records, which signed Bestial Mouths in 2014 and included the band on last year’s avalanche-of-bleakness, 60-some-track collection “The Occult Box” with the likes of Christian Death, Special Darkness, VOWWS and You Love Her Coz She’s Dead. If you’re interested in going headlong into the abyss.
