Young guitar-slingers the Shelters arrived last fall almost fully formed, with a debut EP beholden to no specific era of rock ’n’ roll, or maybe belonging in all of them. The foursome — Chase Simpson, Josh Jove, Sebastian Harris and Jacob Pillot — announced today that their self-titled debut, co-produced by Tom Petty, would be out June 10 via Warner Bros. They also unveiled the single “Rebel Heart,” a hooky, old-school earworm with a little bit of Stones swagger. It’s the Shelters at their most concise, but if you’ve seen them live (where they’ve put on beyond-their-years displays of pyrotechnics), you know they are not to be pigeonholed. All hail the electric guitar.
