Singer-songwriter Thao Nguyen led a emotionally powerful and energetic performance Friday night at the Regent Theater in support of her new album, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down’s “A Man Alive.” While (jokingly?) warning the crowd not to engage in a mosh pit, she led her band through a 20-song set that included 20 of the dozen songs on the new album, which was produced by Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs. For the encore, Thao covered Missy Elliot’s “Get Ur Freak On,” before finishing the concert with the title track from her 2013 album “We the Common.” Shreveport, La., rockers Seratones opened the night with a solid set behind their new album “Get Gone.”
