L.A. hard rock fire-starters (or maybe fire-restarters?) Dorothy recently announced that their debut full-length would be out June 24. It’s titled “ROCKISDEAD,” — as if 1) Dorothy has ever needed to all-capitalize anything, and 2) Dorothy actually believes rock is dead. To review, the quartet emerged in early 2014, with hell-in-heels frontwoman Dorothy Martin positing their music as back-to-basics muscle, an emphatic reply to the flaccid state of things. A string of rip-roaring singles followed, including the the bluesy stomp/chant “Wicked Ones,” which was impossible to avoid in 2015 as it was used multitudes of times in advertising campaigns, television shows and promos. “Dark Nights” is the latest bloodletter from Martin and bandmates Zac Morris (drums), DJ Black (guitar) and Gregg Cash (bass). Here, Martin wails about deliverance in a yet another song that surely provides that for fans of the hard stuff.
