Stream: Veronica Bianqui, ‘Aah, Paris …’

Unlike the retro rough-and-tumble rock of her first single, Veronica Bianqui goes Euro in her new single “Aah, Paris …” At least, in a manner of speaking. The 27-year-old singer, songwriter and guitarist says the song is more of a “surrealistic dream about the City of Light” and was inspired by a night she spent guiding a friend through an acid trip. “Escaping pain through imagination,” she explains. She starts the song by saying she doesn’t speak French — in French, of course — before the bands starts swinging. Lending a hand in that ’60s pop backdrop is Matt Adams of the Blank Tapes (for whom Bianqui plays guitar), who co-produced the track engineered by Mark Rains. The song will appear on Bianqui’s EP, scheduled for release later this year. “Life’s a stream inside a dream,” she sings merrily. Ain’t that the truth.
