Soul man Gallant brought his “Ology” tour to the Fonda Theatre to a two-night stand, seducing fans with songs from his debut album and welcoming Seal as a guest for the encore, to perform the songs “Kiss From a Rose” and “Weight in Gold.” Before going into “Weight in Gold,” Gallant asked Seal, “Another thing. Can you help us sing this last song?” Gallant’s set was also highlighted by “Talking to Myself,” “Miyazaki,” “Counting”
“Jupiter,” “Open Up,” “Bourbon” and “Bone + Tissue” — not to mention a cover of Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly.” At one point, Gallant said: “I moved to Los Angeles and played at Silverlake Lounge a couple years ago. Five people showed up, and I thought to myself ‘I made it’.”
Chicago’s Eryn Allen Kane, one of Prince’s final proteges, opened. Included in her set was a cover of his “I Wanna Be Your Lover.”
