More than your garden-variety synth-pop duo, L.A.’s Scavenger Hunt has proven adept at insouciant mining of ’80s pop for chills and thrills. The duo — siren Jill Lamoureux and multi-instrumentalist/producer Dan Mufson — released two neon-baked EPs in 2015 full of big choruses, elastic dance-floor jams and glossy paeans to club love. And there’s apparently “Never Enough,” as the latest single from the duo’s new EP “Shapes and Outlines” (due Nov. 14) suggests. Here, over pulsing beats, Lamoureux and synths have a conversation that will have you seeing strobes in the middle of the daytime. The duo get writing contributions from the likes of Harlan Silverman, Peter Thomas and James Flannigan on their latest singles. As Scavenger Hunt said this summer when they released their killer mixtape of covers of songs from 1981-97, “We are kids of the ’80s and ’90s.” And good kids at that.
