Stream: NVDES, ‘My Mind Is’ (feat. Oliver Tree)

The new single from NVDES will elicit one of two reactions: You will want to dance/spasm/bounce yourself into a lather because of its contagiously funky bassline, or you will want to grab the megaphone or toilet paper roll Oliver Tree is “singing” through a bop him right in his bowl cut. OK, those reactions are not mutually exclusive. The song is the latest from the Josh Ocean-produced collective who make party anthems for people who like party anthems. This spring NVDES released the double-barreled single “Don’t Fvck Your Neighbor” and “The Other Side,” and “My Mind Is” is the second single off the EP “Life With Lobsters,” due Nov. 18. “Making this song almost got me evicted,” Ocean says of “Mind My Is,” which is rapaciously unhinged, though maybe not as much as the previous single, the squawky banger “8am.” The video for the latter song embraces NVDES’ unrepentant affection for nvdity and cantaloupes. Cut one up for us.
