Fellow Robot are a political rock trio (a genre we suspect will grow in the coming months) who are doing things for fellow humans. Their new single “Tools of War” was written for children in Aleppo, Syria — and proceeds from it will benefit the relief efforts in that ravaged city. The song begins with a rap upside the head to humans who might feel disconnected from the strife: “Another strike happened overnight / 100 lives of children who were born to die / Do you read your paper in a suit and tie? / Pissing your espresso while your wifi dies.”
Says the band, which features Anthony Pedroza, Neena Bradley and Daysmel Muniz of Mr. Moonshine: “Fellow Robot started writing the song late September 2016 after 100 children died after heavy bombardment of Aleppo by Russian and Syrian military forces. During that deadly week over 338 lives were lost, 846 were injured and among those that were injured, 261 children were expected to die for lack of treatment. … We hope to teach our Fellow Robots and Fellow Humans to better understand one another and to raise awareness for the situation in Aleppo.”
All proceeds from digital downloads of the song will go the American Refugee Committee. In the interests of “not standing idly by while so many suffer,” the band says, Fellow Robot encourage you to download and/or donate here.
