It was one of those jubilant nights celebrating the Los Angeles scene on Saturday night at the Troubadour, where an almost-sold-out room witnessed James Supercave put an exclamation point on their 2016. Fans hopped onstage to give Joaquin Pastor a hug (then were escorted off by security); the L.A. quintet did the highlights from their February album “Better Strange” (including the title track, “The Right Thing” and “Chairman Gou”); and they ignited a dance party with their true-to-the-video medley of “Burn” and “No Pressure.” There was the new single “Esther Reed” and a cover of a “Happiness Is a Warm Gun” as well.

SWIMM preceded the headliners with some happiness of their own. Frontman Chris Hess began the set in full, hyper-romantic lounge-singer mode, then the band raced through songs from their “Beverly Hells” EP before building up to the highlight of the set, the new single “Man’s Man.” Lukas Frank began the night with a set of languid, beautiful psychedelic rock.
