Miss Derringer is the vehicle for the musical bullets of mixed-media artist Elizabeth McGrath, who released three albums between 2004 and ’09 before taking a hiatus to, among other things, engage in parenthood with bandmate and life collaborator Morgan Slade. Reunited with original bassist Sylvain de Muizon, Miss Derringer returns Feb. 14 with “The Shadow EP,” another dose of her dark diva stylings once described as “Johnny Cash meets Blondie,” or, in our mind, something you’d hear from No Doubt’s weird aunt who runs a honky-tonk. Speaking of Blondie, Clem Burke and Frank Infante are among the high-powered guest musicians lending their talents to the EP, along with Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys), Derek O’Brien (Social D), Jimmy Wilsey (The Avengers) and more. Burke and Infante assist on the lead track, “Nobody to Come,” a pulse-pounder that fits well among those long-ago Miss Derringer nuggets “Click Click Bang Bang,” “Black Tears” and “Bulletproof Heart.” Fire away.
