Smoke Season drenched the Echoplex in hazy electronica on Monday night as the L.A. duo — Gabrielle Wortman and Jason Rosen — showcased a bunch of new songs they have made to follow up last April’s “Ourboros” EP, their third. Wortman dedicated one of the new ones, “You,” to “my first girlfriend, who I made out with behind the jungle gym during ninth grade.” The duo didn’t play their latest single, the Lionel Richie cover “Hello,” for which they just released a video (see below), but they did nail two of “Ourboros'” highlights, “Loose” and “Emilia.”

Husband-and-wife duo KOLARS preceded Smoke Season with an energetic set that included “One More Thrill, “I Just Want to Live My Life” and, from the He’s My Brother She’s My Sister catalog, “The Same Old Ground.” Holy Wars, making their live debut, opened the night with a six-song set highlighted by the song “Cruel World” and featuring a Jack White cover, “Love Is Blindness.”
