In 2015, Kat Leon lost both her parents within months of each other. She experienced unimaginable grief and took time off from performing music to mourn and heal. When she felt ready to play again, it didn’t seem like Sad Robot was the right vehicle for her expression anymore. She needed a fresh start. Holy Wars is the harder, darker incarnation of Leon and her music partner Nick Perez. With songs based on writings she created during her healing process, her first release is a two-part EP dedicated to her parents, “Mother,” out June 30, and “Father,” which will follow later this summer. Included: the cathartic “I Can’t Feel a Thing.”
