Producer-songwriter Jenny Lee, aka TOKiMONSTA, keeps stretching and stretching her sound, and her new album “Lune Rouge” figures to mark those new boundaries. In June, she unveiled the first single, a collaboration with Malaysian pop singer Yuna, and today the new single “We Love” arrived, featuring the pinched vocals of Amanda Warner, aka MNDR. It sounds like something you’d hear on the Starship Enterprise (if it existed) if you walked into the Holodeck (if it existed) and uttered the word “discotheque” (yes, that exists). Other collaborators on the album, which will arrive Oct. 6 via TOKi’s own Young Art label, include Joey Purp, Isaiah Rashad, Selah Sue and Io Echo. Proceed, not with caution, with imagination.
