The Afghan Whigs have some dedicated fans. Before they took the stage Friday night at the Fonda Theatre, several people in the front row were commenting on which other shows they had attended of this current tour, following the band from city to city and proving their loyalty by singing along to every word unfurled from the stage, including songs from the band’s latest album, “In Spades,” released in May. Throughout the show, Greg Dulli and crew were joined by several guests, including Marcy Mays on “My Curse,” Petra Haden to sing the Twilight Singers’ (Dulli’s other band) “Teenage Wristband” and opener Har Mar Superstar on “Demon In Profile.” The band dedicated a song to former bandmate David Rosser, who passed away in June, and the audience showed their respect with a heartfelt ovation. Har Mar Superstar tickled the audience with synchronized dance moves and matching outfits. Backed by a tight, upbeat band, frontman Sean Tillmann charmed the audience, shedding clothes throughout the set to reveal his sweaty belly. He played a brand new song written just a few days before, and pleaded with the crowd: “Don’t put it online if that’s cool with you. Even if that’s not cool with you.”
