Ears Wide Open: Swimsuit Issue

Swimsuit Issue is the name for the music of Miles Garber and Dave Gagliardi — and also a tongue-in-cheek poke at Garber’s “day” job. The L.A. native is a prominent male model who had been writing songs on the side when, in 2014, he met Gagliardi, guitarist for the punk band Trash Talk. Gagliardi agreed to check out Garber’s demos, and only a couple months later the duo had some recordings. They eventually found their way to Chan Marshall (Cat Power), who invited Swimsuit Issue to open for them.
Now there are more recordings, and an EP is on the way. The duo’s first formal single is “Look Now,” a soaring guitar rocker that wouldn’t have been out of place on ’90s radio. Lookin’ (and soundin’) good, so far.
