Video: SAÍGO, ‘The Other’

Tien Nguyen has released only three high-tension, high-octave singles under his moniker SAÍGO, but there figure to be more unveiled next month when the alt-R&B artist starts his residency at the Bootleg Theater. In the meantime, there is this mixed-media video for his single “The Other.” Combining time-lapse photographic images captured in Death Valley and stop-motion animation, director Eric Foss chronicles the adventures of some four-eyed, Pac-Man-like creatures as they try to find equilibrium in a strange place. “Textbook bigotry / Won’t define the you and me,” SAÍGO sings, admitting the reality that “fear of The Other is killing us.”

SAÍGO also appears as a featured vocalist on the forthcoming album by Kan Wakan, “Phantasmagoria.”
