Last year, L.A. electro-pop outfit Youngblood Hawke dusted off the cobwebs to release “Robbers,” one of just a trickle of singles they’ve done since their 2013 full-length “Wake Up.” The quintet — Sam Martin, Simon Katz, Tasso Smith, Alice Katz and Nik Hughes — departed Island Records after that release, and some members moved on to other professional endeavors, so churning out euphoric songs (like their breakthrough “We Come Running”) wasn’t necessarily top priority. But this week, YBH unveiled the single “Trust,” the latest bouncy, colorful sphere in their ball pit of optimism. “We wrote ‘Trust’ during a time when we were craving independence,” Martin explains. “We had just left our label and while it was exciting to be out on our own again, it was also somewhat unsettling. The song became a constant reminder for us to stay true to our vision and to have faith in the process; that very same vision we formed early on recording in a tiny bedroom studio. ‘Trust’ is about fervently following your passion even if that means stepping into the unknown.” Assisting in their fervor on this outing was Grammy-winning DJ/producer Andrew Taggart of the Chainsmokers. Youngblood Hawke has a new EP on the way later this year.
