Dang Clēts make the kind of blithe, shimmering psych-pop you’d expect to find in the DNA of California kids. In the case of founding trio James Forward, Jake Mills and Connor Cunningham, they found their West Coast synergy while at college on the East Coast. Last spring, Dang Clēts (yes, it’s pronounced “dang cleats”) released their self-titled EP and then moved back to California (home for Forward and Mills), where they have been working on new music and leaving their feel-good footprints in local clubs. The new video for their first single,”Lines,” which was directed by Natalie Warther and filmed by Ryan Hackbarth, is a good introduction: Here are some guys who are going to elevate your mood and maybe even play outside the lines.
