On his new album, “Stargate Music,” beatmaker Ras G expresses reverence for humankind’s great portal of creation, the vagina. “The womb is The Stargate of Humanity,” he says. “Stargate Music is a record that I livicated to the Womb-man … to the Vagina, The Stargate from which beings emanate life on this planet. I gathered these sound pieces and presented it as a reflection of the life cycle of beings on this planet.” The word “livicated” is not a typo, but an alternative to “ded”-icating. With titles like “Water Broken (The Opening Of The Stargate),” “The Nector of Stargate (taste),” “Heaven is between her legs … (Initiate the return),” and “The Great Return (racing seed),” Ras G traces the adventure from outs to ins across this instrumental album. “This is the soundtrack to the journey,” he says. First single “The Arrival” has a skip in its step, as a being worms its way out of a body into outer space. Cue the rhythmic handclaps.
“Stargate Music” arrives April 20 on Leaving Records.
