Video: BONES, ‘Creature’

One can only hope that when BONES are done kicking ass and taking names, your name is on the list. The L.A.-by-way-of-London hard rock outfit led by Rosie Bones and Carmen Vandenburg have formally released precious little of their provocative, physical music so far — five singles since 2016 — but what they have abides the true spirit of rock ’n’ roll rebellion without becoming entangled in the moshpit of cliché. That owes to the convincing snarl of vocalist Rosie Bones and the licks delivered by Carmen Vandenberg, an Academy of Contemporary Music-trained guitarist and session player who co-wrote and performed with the legendary Jeff Beck. (Which reminds us, BONES still haven’t formally released our favorite song, the emphatic kiss-off “Girls Can’t Play Guitar,” which alone is worth the ticket price to one of their live shows).

BONES just released the video for the new single “Creature,” directed by Rosie Bones and Gille Klabin. It’s a hoot. It features the duo ferrying a strange assortment of people around Los Angeles in the “Bonesmobile.” Says Rosie Bones: “Our ‘service’ offers privacy from the world and creates a safe place for people to be who they want to be and do what they want to do. Passengers don’t have to live up to anyone’s projections or preconceptions. In the back of our limo … they can be free.”

If there’s an app, we’re signing up.
