Out July 20 via Drag City, “Joy” is the second monosyllabic collaborative album from Ty Segall and White Fence, aka Tim Presley, following 2012’s “Hair.” They’ve released two songs so far to whet listener’s appetites. First came “Good Boy,” a gently bizarre stroll that kicks off with lyrics about “lipstick and pancakes” and eventually begins acknowledging that he, she and we are all a “good boy” and, in fact, he, she and we are all a “good girl,” too. Whether it’s about gender politics or inspired by their fondness for domestic animals, that’s not for us to say, but the song introduces a few elements that carry over to “Body Behavior.” On both, the acoustic guitar makes its presence felt between its electric sibling and a chunky deep-voiced bass. “Body Behavior” is faster and noisier, but just as politely composed, even when the fuzz takes over, and gets it all done in just about two minutes.
