The second single from L.A. duo Ruby Haunt suggests the rarest of commodities: shelter, without going anywhere. “Sanctuary” is a languorous down-tempo ballad built on a featherbed of keyboards, the melancholic, plaintive vocals searching for the comfort of the right headspace: “Wasted all my time / picking at my scars / Should be out there / counting all my stars.”
The song is the work of boyhood pals Wyatt Ininns and Victor Pakpour, who got their start while in college as long-distance collaborators (L.A. and Portland). A few EPs later, they released their debut full-length “Sugar” (2016), and now they are preparing the release of their sophomore effort. “Blue Hour” will be out this fall.
