From a whisper to a scream, Costa Mesa quartet Takers Leavers unleashes a fusillade of anger and frustration on their new single “Lost and Found,” the lead track on their sophomore EP “Break & Bloom” (out Sept. 7). The EP, produced by Adam Sisco at Twin Star Studios, is the follow-up to “2016’s “Filthy Animals” and finds the band — named for the two groups of people in Daniel Quinn’s novel “Ishmael” — thrashing around in the same stormy post-hardcore waters as fellow Orange Countians Thrice and Saosin.

“The song basically wrote itself, as we wanted something buck-wild right out of the gates,” the band says. “There is a lot of disdain in the emotion of ‘Lost and Found,’ not to mention an immense amount of saltiness. This song serves as the moment of callusing we sometimes experience after an emotionally traumatic unraveling of a relationship.”

Amber Paredes’ video for the song finds the quartet taking their pugilistic act to the park and the beach, with frontman David Baqi traversing all that emotional ground in his transition from chill to shrill while Robby Friend’s angular, stabbing guitar licks find space in the pummeling rhythms of bassist Karem Idrees and drummer John Gee. Takers Leavers’ bottle of catharsis is open; take a long drink.
