Fresh off hosting and performing at the third annual Sunstock Solar Festival, Trapdoor Social have unveiled “Hold Me Down,” their first new single since their 2016 self-titled full-length. In between their many environmental activities, which include staging solar-powered concerts across the U.S., the band — Merritt Graves, Skylar Funk, Louie Gonzalez, Patrick Griffin and Ben Ebert — are working on a new album for release in 2019. “Hold Me Down” captures the exuberance of Trapdoor Social’s live shows, pivoting from scratchy garage-rocker to a modern power-pop sound faster than the clap of a hand. Horns and harmonies are involved, of course, making “Hold Me Down” a burst of energy that makes you wonder what Trapdoor Social have up their sleeve for next year. The single is officially out Nov. 9.
